On November 7, 2009,
The Hope Lodge celebrated it's
first birthday.
It was announced,
that part of Boston would be
dedicated as "Hope Square"

At the event we had a chance to
view and vote on the
best decorated birthday cakes that
culinary art students
had prepared for the event.
The cake that won was the
"Rainbow Cake".
It was beautifully decorated with
brightly colored frosting & flowers.
How fitting that "The Rainbow"
reappears on the 1st birthday!

The CELEBRATE LIFE FOUNDATION has pledged funds to the
American Cancer Society to help open the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center
To be located at 125 So. Huntington Ave., Boston, Massachusetts

With your help a significant room in the Lodge will be named after
Cathy and Rosemarie.

The American Cancer Society Hope Lodges offer free temporary lodging and support near major cancer centers for cancer patients who must travel far from home for their treatment. When it opens in the fall of 2008, the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston will serve 1,500 patients, caregivers, and family members every year, bringing the city’s premier cancer centers and world class treatments within reach of more patients than ever. The Lodge will offer the warmth and security of home in a setting where patients and families are embraced with guidance and support to navigate their cancer journeys.

Guests at the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston will have access to the American Cancer Society’s 24 hour call center, comprehensive web site, and onsite library filled with information to help patients and their loved ones make informed decisions. Professional staff and trained volunteers will provide transportation to treatment, referral to local resources, support programs, and cancer education classes--all free of charge.

Accommodations at the Lodge include 40 private guest suites, common areas for meal preparation and dining, recreational spaces, two outdoor courtyards, and a healing garden. All areas of the facility are designed to encourage guests to share their experiences and draw encouragement and strength from one another. The Lodge will also serve as a community center for a variety of cancer initiatives, support programs, and patient outreach.
